A Duke Never Yields Berkley Sensation historical romance The Affairs by Moonlight Trilogy Juliana Gray 9780425251188 Books
This trilogy represents the most astonishing feat of authorial legerdemain I've ever seen. Unlike other romantic trilogies, all three books tell the story of the same events and the same time period--and yet make the story so different, from the different points of view that I kept going back to check the story in the other books. Yep! Sure enough! Gray never got lost! Amazing!!Only caveat: sexually explicit, which is not something I personally like. You are warned. (I skip those scenes.)

A Duke Never Yields Berkley Sensation historical romance The Affairs by Moonlight Trilogy Juliana Gray 9780425251188 Books Reviews
I liked this book up until the end. Characters were witty, dialogue interesting, and I enjoyed the fact that the hero actually tried to discover "the seat of a woman's pleasure" through ways that did not include a whorehouse. However, I found some of the plot twists toward the end to be too far fetched and disappointing. ***spoiler***
Why didn't she tell him she was pregnant?? How disappointing for him and her!
I usually don't use such strong words to describe books as I am a lover of books, and think they all have a charm to them. But this book! Ah. I didn't read the first two books in the trilogy, so maybe that made the difference since I wasn't introduced to the characters earlier nor the story line. Every page, I expected something magical to happen and every page all that happened was Abigail chasing her Duke all of the place and him swimming and trying to catch the other couples in the "act."
So no. I didn't like it. Haven't finished it, and am quite dissapointed in the NPR book list that suggested I read this.
Julianna Gray equals perfection.
This story ties it all together with the ending quite wonderful! Again the story is full of surprising twists and turns that will keep you glued to the book. The characters are also wonderfully brought to life and will almost jump off the pages. Juliana Gray has done it again.
Promotion of this book is what led me to discover the trilogy. While the other two books were unique with their character backstories and voices, this story is unique to romance novels. As Juliana Grey pointed out in her promotion material, the awkwardness of the love scenes between the main characters is not typical for the genre. When I saw the excerpts, I was intrigued. I ordered the entire trilogy based on this atypical dialogue.
While the books could be read out of order, I do not recommend it. The books slowly reveal information about the setting and clues to the characters' actions. The pieces come together over the course of the three books. I couldn't help but wonder at the editing skills that were required to keep this trilogy from having timeline errors. I was too engrossed in the story to spot anything, but I'm sure there are other readers that have a list they are proud of.
The charisma of the heroine and the bullheadedness of the hero make for some fantastic verbal exchanges. And since this trilogy was loosely based on a Shakespeare play, and because I enjoyed the trilogy so much, I might read the original Shakespeare play.
Thank you to the author for providing the perfect example for simultaneous stories. I loved it!
I really enjoyed the last book in this series. Abby was the most spirited of the women. She was a woman who knew what she wanted from the first. And she was the one who figured out the curse and wanted to fix it. I love the Duke of Wallingford and it was love at first sight for him. The year apart was unexpected. Gave some depth to the plot. I would probably read this series again. Very good series.
I did not know this was part of a trilogy. I have since gotten the other books but haven't read them, yet. So I'll make this short and sweet. I loved that The Duke of Wallingford thought he could beat his grandfather's scheme of arranging a marriage for him. He goes off to Italy with his brother and his uncle (his grandfather's illigitimate son) and there meets 3 lovely women who are also staying at the same castle.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and now will go and read the others.
